In August 2025, Seruniaudio took part in GAUNG, a collective project that serves as a meeting ground for electronic and experimental music practitioners in Yogyakarta. GAUNG was initiated by Ari Wulu, Andreas Siagian, and Wok The Rock, three influential figures who have been active in Indonesia’s music scene since the late 1990s through collectives such as Gayam 16, Instrumentasia, and Yes No Klub. This year, they are joined by Leilani Hermiasih, a researcher and singer-songwriter, in developing the 2025 edition of GAUNG.
Designed as a power hub and network platform for electronic music, GAUNG functions as a collaborative space across disciplines. With its modular approach, the project connects communities, initiatives, and music collectives to organize research programs, seminars, workshops, and performances across various venues in Yogyakarta — all built upon the principles of cooperation and cultural sustainability.
BIEM in the Workshop and Audio Documentation
One of the key programs in GAUNG 2025 was SALON, held from 7–14 August 2025. This series focused on developing technical skills in audio production, creative sound-making, and music management. Within this program, Seruniaudio BIEM (Binaural In-Ear Microphone) played an important role in the workshop “Spatial Sound Framework for Live Performance”, led by Gatot Danar Sulistiyanto from 7–10 August 2025.
BIEM supported participants in exploring spatial sound practices — from designing sound spaces to applying three-dimensional recording techniques. Thanks to its binaural capability, BIEM captures sound exactly as the human ear perceives it, producing a highly immersive and realistic listening experience when played back through headphones.
Beyond the workshop, BIEM was also used to document the audio of various GAUNG activities. These binaural recordings serve as an auditory archive, preserving the festival’s unique atmosphere from a listener’s perspective. The resulting documentation will later be presented in video form, allowing audiences to relive the acoustic environment and energy of GAUNG 2025. Here are some of the clips:
Direct Experience at the Seruniaudio Booth
Throughout the event, the Seruniaudio booth became one of the most engaging spots for visitors and participants. Many tried listening to BIEM’s recordings firsthand — and most were amazed by the depth and realism of the sound they heard. From conversations and acoustic instruments to environmental ambience, BIEM faithfully captured every detail, creating the sensation of being physically present in the same space.
Seruniaudio’s participation in GAUNG 2025 reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting the growth of Indonesia’s audio and experimental music ecosystem. Through collaborations with artists, curators, and local communities, Seruniaudio continues to deliver high-precision recording technology that enriches both creative and archival practices across artistic disciplines.
